KEEP THE NATURAL ARCH Even though you'll routinely hear instructors say, "keep your back straight," the human spine is in fact not straight, but slightly curved. the natural arch in the lower back when you perform barbell rows. If you let the back round (i.e. if you reduce the natural curve), the lower back muscles relax, placing most of the stress on the ligaments.
