176. LEG PRESSES Leg presses are a close second to squats in terms of effectiveness and have the advantage of letting you use hundreds of pounds of weight in relative safety. As you lower the platform by bending your knees, don't bounce at the bottom of the movement. You run the
risk of damaging your knees or ribs. Likewise don't lock the legs completely straight at the top as you could hyperextend and tear the knee ligaments or cartilage.
